Karen Apsel, Ph.D.

 Who I am:

I have been in private practice for over 20 years.  Although I share a suite with wonderful, valued colleagues, our practices are separate and confidential.  

For several years, before switching to private practice exclusively, I worked at a unique residential treatment center focused on trauma, addictions, and compulsions.  It provided me with excellent training and a foundation for my work with both addictions/compulsions and surviving trauma/PTSD.  

My undergraduate degree is from Duke University and I have a PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Virginia.

I am certified in EMDR, trained in various couples therapy systems including Gottman, and am a member of SASH, the Society for the Advancement of Sexual Health.
